    I was taught to swim the old fashioned way. I was thrown in. Obviously (or not) I learned to swim. This comment is NOT a recommendation or endorsement! DO NOT try this at home!

    Our family is glad you managed to make it to the surface, Bill.

    I am always fearful of my kids and proximity to water. My son complained to me once that he was a perfectly good swimmer, in reply to my cautions about always having an adult around. I asked him why he thought that. He replied, "Because, Dad, I float really well under water."

    Yikes.
